An outstanding centre for clinical and applied research in sports medicine

ABOUT US

The Sports Surgery Clinic Research Foundation is a charitable organization formed in November 2014 with the purpose of rapid translation of sports medicine research to the patient.

By assembling a board of global experts in the field this expertise is gathered together in combined intensity and exposed to high numbers of patients initially at SSC, and then at new Foundation Centres in Australia and the USA.

The aim is to create the world’s foremost Centre of sports medicine research

At the hub of all research programmes from the foundation will be the central tenets of genetics, biomechanics, and
cellular biotechnology.
Existing programs in the biomechanics of athletic groin pain and multidirectional high-speed movement alongside ACL rehabilitation are already in place. Work on Cartilaginous cellular repair and the subsequent biomechanical loading of rehabilitation Will soon be underway in collaboration with Trinity College, Dublin
Existing collaboration with the INSIGHT Group and Dublin City University is allowing work on an initial sensor
technology in ACL Rehabiliation
We are excited to announce that the immediate focus is involving both genetics biomechanics and Epidemiology in
Europe’s first Concussion Clinical and Research Centre.

Scientific Advisory Board

Consultants seeing large numbers of patients are best placed to ask the questions challenging their management of real patients, not theoretical models. Global expertise is often in competing institutes. Universities traditionally struggle to get access to large numbers of patients. The vision of the Foundation is that of a centre conducting large scale injury prevention, rehabilitation, and surgical research with philanthropic, government and industry partners.
